Dave’s Takeaways From The Buccaneers First Preseason Game

Dave’s Takeaways From The Buccaneers First Preseason Game

Buccaneers Football Is Back!

On Saturday night, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took the field at Raymond James Stadium against the Cincinnati Bengals. Moore Resources President Dave Moore was in the booth serving as he has for the past 15 seasons as the Buccaneers Radio Color Analyst. Four players caught Dave’s eye during the game:

Kyle Trask: Dave said he was most impressed with Kyle Trask’s poise in the pocket. It is not easy to suit up for your first NFL game and stay relaxed under pressure, but that is exactly what Trask did. He kept his cool behind the backup offensive line. Dave said what most stood out to him was how he went through all of his progressions. Dave is excited to watch Trask learn from Brady and to see the type of quarterback he can become!

Joe Tryon: The Buccaneers first-round pick impressed Dave Moore last night. Tryon hadn’t played a football game in over a year, having sat out the last collegiate season due to Covid. However, it didn’t look like he missed a beat in terms of game speed and aggressiveness. Dave noticed that Tryon was very physical on the line of scrimmage and very fast with his hands. Tryon recorded a sack on Saturday night, however, received a penalty for burying the Quarterback into the ground. Dave noted that Tryon will learn how to properly conduct a sack as time goes on and chalked up the aggression to excitement. Overall, Dave is excited about the depth Tryon brings to the Buccaneers defense and his future in Tampa.

Blaine Gabbert: Blaine Gabbert is a veteran in the National Football League and the former starter of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Dave said that Gabbert's experience shined against the Bengals resulting in the best offensive drive of the night. Gabbert brings a reliable backup to Brady and a great teacher to Trask.

Jaelon Darden: Darden was drafted in the fourth round by the Buccaneers in the 2021 NFL draft. Darden impressed Dave on Saturday Night. Dave described Dardon as elusive and said he has game-breaking speed. He had sharp route running and made a couple of great plays after the catch. Overall, the Buccaneers are going to have a plethora of weapons on offense to use during the season.

We are looking forward to the 2021 NFL season and watching Tampa Bay hit the field! Go Bucs!
